Brussels recommendations
|
Just booked the Eurostar for the Anderlecht game. Looking for recommendations for which area of Brussels to stay in please. Would ideally like good access to the sights and pubs/ restaurants and close to good transport links to the stadium.
Thanks in advance

Lived in Brussels for a few years. Any hotels around the Bourse and De Broukere subway / metro stations are fine. You'll have good access to everything and it's very central.
Stay away from Noord and Midi station areas for hotels as they are both shit hole areas.
Everything is walkable, it's a small city.

Yes I will be in Brussels. I'm renting a place in Near Avenue Louise in St Gilles. The neighbouring commune to Anderlecht.
My local team is Union Saint-Gilloise who beat Anderlecht on sunday 2-1.

If you're only going for a couple of days don't eat or drink anything you didn't bring with you. A few cans of baked beans and couple of bottles of Frosty Jack should see you through.
Basically, Belgians only eat wild boar and french fries with mayonnaise on. They're both disgusting. And their beer is made out of wheat and has strawberries in it. Avoid.

There's BBP on Avenue Louise close to the area I mentioned Chatelain. Big terrace and big screens. Used to be better when it was the Michael Collins pub. Used to be ramming. Great place to pull.

Swiss - I haven't watched a soap since Frank Butcher was running the Queen Vic, and never watched even a minute of reality TV my whole life, so not sure how you dreamed that up.
Anyway, are you going to be in Brussels for this?

I actually really liked Brussels, the main square is the business but there is an alleyway off the square that is just non stop restaurants and the atmosphere is unbelievable.

There's the best Friterie on earth on the junction of Ave Louise and Rue du Bailli. The best chips you will ever eat.

Also the 136 bus or 81 tram can take you to Anderlecht from Chatelain.
If you go city centre to the Grand Place to see pissing boy and girl. Go to The Delerium Cafe. Loads of draft Belgian beers. And the St Gery area is good. Also if you want an English pub The Churchill is close by.
On Thurs night after the match Place de Luxembourg is the place to go. Lots of EU commission chicks.

Thje best commune to stay in is Ixelles. Look for any hotels on Avenue Louise.
If you are arriving Wednesday night go to the Chatelain area off Ave Louise. There a market and always a party in the hood that night. Try Pam Pam, Le Red , Le Stoefer and La Place a bar/club. All in walking distance of each other. Also you have a lot of Bars in Rue Du Bailli like Banco and Supra. Again all in the same hood
All open to 1am and more and no entrance fee etc
